Chaplaincy

Over the past two years or so, there has been a lot of activity in all faiths to consider the implications of equal opportunity legislation as it applies to religious groups. There has been particular focus on Chaplaincy organisations, who have traditionally offered a Christian based service.

A lay-ministry day was organised at Amaravati on 2nd June 2007 with speakers on prison, hospital and armed forces chaplaincy. We also heard about the Buddhist Healthcare Chaplaincy Group who were looking at possible accreditation schemes to be applied to prospective Buddhist chaplains. The proposed accreditation scheme and the background to BHCG are attached.
